| Q: | How does Remote Deposit work? |
| A: | Using a supported check scanner, you simply scan an image of both sides of the check on one pass. This image then becomes the legal equivalent of the original check, and the image is submitted to the bank through a secure electronic server. The bank treats this image as the legal equivalent and begins processing the check immediately. |
| Q: | How does Remote Deposit get my money to me faster? |
| A: | By eliminating the paper check, and the need to physically take the check to the bank for deposit, the check can get out of float up to 2 days quicker. Bad and fraudulent checks are recognized sooner, and deposits can be made at any time. |
| Q: | What is an IRD (Image Replacement Document)? |
| A: | An IRD is a reproduction of the original paper check, and is legally binding as a legal proof of payment. |
| Q: | Do I have to change or upgrade my computer system? |
| A: | Each scanner will have its own minimum system requirements, as well as its own driver that needs to be loaded. You will also need a USB connection, Windows XP, and a connection to the Web. |
| Q: | Who will use the system? What type of training will be provided? |

| Q: | How late can a deposit be made and still get same day credit? |
| A: | 6 p.m. each business day |
| Q: | Is any information stored on my local computer? |
| A: | No. Images are stored on your computer until the batch has been uploaded to United Bank. |
| Q: | What do I do with the check after I make the deposit? |
| A: | It is recommended that original checks be stored for six months before destroying. However, it will be determined by the individual companies to set forth policies and procedures to determine the length of time. It will also be up to the individual company to set policies for proper storage and destruction of the original checks. |
| Q: | Do I pay extra to set up multiple accounts for deposit? |
| A: | Software will be provided that includes any accounts you may wish to deposit into. |
| Q: | What types of checks can be processed through Remote Deposit? |
| A: | U.S. dollar checks drawn on banks with valid U.S. Routing and Transit numbers are accepted, including personal checks, business checks, and Postal money orders. Foreign checks are not covered by Check 21 and therefore can't be captured, including Canadian items. |
| Q: | How do I know if a check has been scanned and deposited using remote deposit? |
| A: | The scanner device uses a single line endorsement which you can view on the back of the check. |
| Q: | What security controls are provided for Remote Deposit? |
| A: | User access rights, depository restrictions, and review criteria levels are controlled within the Remote Deposit software. Data transmissions from your PC are protected by 128-bit encryption. Additionally, IRD's are printed with an ID number on watermarked paper, in fully secured and controlled print facilities. |
| Q: | How do I know if the image quality is good? |
| A: | We ensure image quality using IQA technology which verifies quality at the point of presentment. |

| A: | The software has duplicated detection capability built in which detects items already captured. |
